To All Whomst Live about This Lake, Most Kindly Residents, and their Spirit Kindred.
I write to you in the most sorry state, and I must beseech your goodwill to my lacking knowledge and skill so if that I write boldly with no invitation to do so you will look upon me with mercy if I have mistakenly given offense. You will do me the greatest kindness if you will take pity upon me, as I am now so far from home and so wholly without that which I know well. It is no small matter for me to be gone from where I came, I would not trouble your good humour with myself on anything less than the direst of situations.
It is paramount that in all haste that I send word to my homeland, as I have been assured no return is possible. There is a great matter for which it is my duty to attend and in such present circumstances as these, my absence will be a great misfortune. As I cannot leave in good time, I must at least send word to my Fathers that the succession has to pass to my sister due to this present situation.
I ask most heartily how I may do such a thing? I am at your mercy, please, take pity upon my lands, if not myself, for their are good and innocent citizens of the Isle that must be guided, as has been my family's duty for near 500 years.
Simply give me the means, and I will owe you a lifetime of gratitude, I have no more than the clothes on my back and the shoes on my feet and the love of the Great Sea-Father in my heart. Ask and whatever you wish that I can give is yours if you will but help me with this.
In salt-air and In ocean wave, I plead as a faithful if a helpless servant of the Sea-Father,
Gilia St. Loe, of the Isle St Loe. Daughter-Sea to the Spirit of the Great Ocean, Second-Child of the Isle, She Who Sings with the Ocean to Give Prosperity.

In a manner of speaking, yes, for her has formed me as surely as my physical mother and father did. He is the great guardian of my lands, and protect those who live on them as patrons to my family. My mother is the Lady Honora St. Loe. My mother's husbands and both also my father - are the Lords Alaric St. Loe and Gerardus St. Loe. But after we are born, on the third day by the moon's rise, we are taken to the shore line where St. Loe himself was saved by the sea, and we are given to him, and he takes us to his domain below the waves and blesses us. Then three days later, we are given back to our mortal parents, and grow strong with his love.
My regards,
Gilia St. Loe, of the Isle St Loe. Daughter-Sea to the Spirit of the Great Ocean, Second-Child of the Isle, She Who Sings with the Ocean to Give Prosperity.

That's both one of the weirdest and coolest things I've ever heard.
[ Like what is even happening. ]

You are quite kind to say so, for it is the greatest pride of my people. We have served him for hundreds of years, and he serves us, as well.
Does your family have a patron spirit you have bonded your heart and soul with?
My regards,
Gilia St. Loe, of the Isle St Loe. Daughter-Sea to the Spirit of the Great Ocean, Second-Child of the Isle, She Who Sings with the Ocean to Give Prosperity.

So how do you serve each other?
no subject
That is a very complicated answer, I suppose it would be difficult to say it easily but the closest is - how does a child serve their parent? How does a parent serve their child?
He loves us like one, and he honours us with many gifts. I cannot drown, I may escape into the water at will, I am gifted with the sense of the tides and waves. In return, we pray to him, dedicate our victories to him, we give offerings into the sea - ever crop, every mass traded good, and we have kept the bond strong for hundreds of years, unbroken in all that time.

He needs the offerings?

To Master Rhys,
Need is not quite the word, it is to give and receive. Our bond grows weak if we do not actively give to each other. We strengthen one another through such acts. I suppose he must think of us like his flock, to feed and protect, and we give him our wool.
My regards,
Gilia St. Loe, of the Isle St Loe. Daughter-Sea to the Spirit of the Great Ocean, Second-Child of the Isle, She Who Sings with the Ocean to Give Prosperity.

[ Why give crops to the sea like. What. ]

I suppose if you were regard it in such a manner, as only in a matter of need. But I have always thought of it as gifts, we often receive things we do not need, because of the love people share in each other's happiness. It is important to give him our love, as it strengthens him, as he strengthens us.
It is not always to the Spirits best interest to form the bond, but he did it, to help save all, many centuries ago.
My regards,
Gilia St. Loe, of the Isle St Loe. Daughter-Sea to the Spirit of the Great Ocean, Second-Child of the Isle, She Who Sings with the Ocean to Give Prosperity.

[ Still weird, but maybe that has more to do with the fact that they're talking about the sea. ]
What's your world called?
no subject
My Isle is St. Loe. Though if you were to call all Spirit Bonded, many as we are, I suppose we are often referred to as the Ring-Lands.
My regards,
Gilia St. Loe, of the Isle St Loe. Daughter-Sea to the Spirit of the Great Ocean, Second-Child of the Isle, She Who Sings with the Ocean to Give Prosperity.

[ She knows what a planet is, right? She has to. ]
no subject
What do we call all lands? Did I not already answer that?
My regards,
Gilia St. Loe, of the Isle St Loe. Daughter-Sea to the Spirit of the Great Ocean, Second-Child of the Isle, She Who Sings with the Ocean to Give Prosperity.

Nevermind. Don't worry about it.

To Master Rhys,
If I can be of any more service, please, tell me, I would be so glad to assist.
My regards,
Gilia St. Loe, of the Isle St Loe. Daughter-Sea to the Spirit of the Great Ocean, Second-Child of the Isle, She Who Sings with the Ocean to Give Prosperity.
