There's been a cave-in down the hatch. No one is dead, no need to panic.

Going down to look into it myself, but from what little I've heard, I'll need all the help I'm able to gather if we're to dig them free.

Text seems to transmit better than audio - less choppy, it either comes through or it doesn't. Still best not to count on me replying after let's say ten minutes from now. Speak to Graham Casner for anything past that, he's got eyes on this from here above ground.

Wen Ning - if you see this before I find you, you're coming with me.

( heads up that graham might respond to some of the tag-ins if he can help Direct Humans in some way, what with wei wuxian being semi-busy, so don't be alarmed if that happens. )

Nothing he can't handle. ( says a man who has never once actually seen the boy have to sustain a wound, but it's the thought that counts!

[ Wen Ning likes to stay as close as possible to wherever Wei Wuxian is, just in case. He wouldn't know how to deal with himself if something bad happened to Wei-gongzi and he wasn't there to prevent it. ]

[ He follows along, because of course he does. What else is he going to do, just stay at home while Sizhui is trapped underground? ]

( honestly, it's a relief to have wen ning close at hand. more than anyone else in this place, ning is someone that he can count on for whatever he could possibly need, and while wei wuxian does feel a nagging sort of guilt that he has done much too little to repay such a thing, it's his curse that he only really remembers such a thing when he's reminded (in a crisis, or when they need to accomplish something), and so it's never the right time to do anything about it. )

With luck, we'll just be able to dig a bit and make a hole, ( he says. his brow flickers into a momentary scowl, and - ) Then get Jiang Cheng through that hole somehow, he's done something to his leg. Gods only know what shape it's in.

[ Wen Ning hesitates slightly when Jiang Cheng's name is mentioned, remembering the Yunmeng Jiang Sect Leader's warning to stay away from his family. And beyond that, half remembering something more, as if from a dream. His chest gets sore suddenly, and he brings up an absent hand to rub at it.

But no matter. It's worth drawing Jiang Cheng's ire if it means helping Wei Wuxian save Lan Sizhui. ]

I can definitely help dig a hole. I'll dig as big a hole as I can.

( if ning thinks that jiang cheng dares to start shit with him with wei wuxian present, while the two of them are digging him out of a hole no less, then he's sorely mistaken. and also, jiang cheng's leg is apparently broken. it'll be a wonder if he could successfully start a fight with anyone at this point.

and besides - wen ning is staying away from his family. jiang cheng disowned wei wuxian from yunmeng jiang long ago. he doesn't get to have it both ways. )

Perfect, ( he says, though in actuality it may not be so simple. it's something they'll have to figure out once they're down there. ) With any luck, Sizhui will have his leg back some kind of together before we have to move him. ( perhaps he has too much faith in a lan's qi healing, but so be it. )

He will, I'm sure he will. [ Unlike Wei Wuxian, Wen Ning has seen Lan Sizhui in action. He's a good embodiment of all the Gusu Lan clan's teachings and ideals. In a way, it saddens Wen Ning to see A-Yuan be more Lan than Wen, but he wouldn't wish for the alternative in a million lifetimes. If Lan Wangji hadn't found him and taken him in...

He doesn't want to think about that "what if." ]

When did the cave in happen? How long have they been trapped down there?

Less than an hour, ( he says. ) Did you know we have men - or, ah, at least one man - who can teleport? No talisman or anything. Hopped himself and the chatty girl with the cat up out of the cave, then passed out right there in the dirt, but at least she could tell me what happened.

( a pause, and then on the back of a grim sort of sigh, ) I hear it caved in at both ends, though. I know little of caves, but that doesn't reassure me of the stability of the rest of it.

With no talisman? [ This place really is filled with all kinds of people. Wen Ning is a little distracted, thinking about the kind of power it would take to teleport yourself and another person without a talisman; he almost misses the rest of what Wei Wuxian says. ]
