[She exhales quickly, then inhales sharply in a fast, harsh breath. And then again. Trying to calm herself a little. She scrubs her hands over her face hard and swallows a few times.]

I just woke up maybe an hour ago. In this apartment.

I just woke up here. Maybe. Maybe an hour ago. [She picks up a large, ornate flower crown. Running her fingers over the petals of it.]

I don't know where here is. [Slowly, meticulously, she starts picking at the wires that attach the top part of the crown to the bottom. She doesn't want to wear the whole thing, since it's very heavy, she just wants the actual crown.]

You are in sort of a giant cage thing with a bunch of other people, like me, and secret people called technicians who might live underground who will do their best to periodically kill us. But do not worry! Nothing will immediately kill you!

[Jingyi really is trying to answer her question the most reassuring way he can manage. It is just...not a very reassuring situation. He winces a little and plows onward, awkwardly.]

I do not think there is anything out there right now that means your apartment is not safe, so! You are safe!! Take a breath!! Do you need a hug? Or something like that? I am out by the lake, which is a ways from the town, but a hug can be arranged if you think that would help.

They. Who is they? These uh, technicians? [She gathers up an armful of the flowers off the floor and drags them closer together. Fingers neatly twisting stems and braiding them together to start to make a crown]

[ Have a teenage girl with ruffled hair in the camera view trying not to sympathy cry because oh goddess someone who gets it. ]

It's the w-worst place! Th-theres strangers everywhere and nothing is safe and weird things happen. There's people who've been here for months! [ She trails off in a small wail] It's terrible I want to be back in my room!

[ There's a pause as she realizes this is probably the most she's spoken in a long while to anyone outside of Dimitri and her growing panic at her situation at that. ]

O-oh no! I didn't mean to make this about me! Bernie you idiot, she just got here a-and she has t-to deal with this on top of everything else...

[midsommaring]

No, no. it's okay. [She nods and gestures like Bernadette could actually come closer. She pushes her hair out of her face and smiles through her tears.]

We can cry together, it's okay. It's natural. I'll cry for you and you cry for me.

[cryingforever]

[ That response surprises her. Enough that she's shaken out of her usual spiral of low self-esteem. ]

I...Really? M-my father told me crying was a s-sign of weakness and if I cried a lot I'd never be marriable... [ Being told it's a natural and okay is very strange to her. ]

My parents told me some similar things. A lot of people tell you not to cry, or to do it by yourself where no one can see. To hide it.

But when you share it, it's beautiful, and it's part of who you are. You're just sharing a deeper part of yourself.

Our bodies need to cry. If we swallow it all down, we'll never heal.

I -- I don't know. I haven't looked at anything. I'm in an apartment building, that's all I know. [She seems frozen to the spot, picking helplessly at flower petals]

[ Oh no, oh no the poor dear - but something pangs, deep in her chest. Heavy and sharp. The flowers, the gown - could it... ? ]

[midsommaring]

[It takes her a few tries before she manages an actual deep breath, but she does, eventually. And then another. Looking at the lady in the video screen as if to ask if she's doing this right.]

[ Gilia smiles and gives an encouraging nod. ]
