i don't think it's worth it to discuss how or why we all ended up here or how long it'll be. the pamphlet was pretty informative. i thought it was a joke someone slipped through my windowsill but everyone else is talking about it seriously. in the context of everything, i'm just going to believe this one hundred percent, bad news or not.

anyway.

i do have a basic question for everyone. where did you come from before this? some of the things i'm seeing definitely lead me to believe you're not other zone-goers. it's hard to get a good read on people and who you might be when your codenames are about licking dicks and the like.

not that i'm taking all that seriously, by the way !

yeah, never heard of it.

where i come from, everyone is from a different zone. sort of like cities i guess, with different types of function and purpose, all spread out. there's not states or even other countries anymore, so hearing that people come from such segmented and different places is really interesting!

So are you from Earth or some place else?

I agree that it's very interesting. It's not something that I'd ever had to think about or imagine. Not being on Earth. Not being where I was before. My whole world view was in such a small place compared to what I have to consider now.

yeah, earth. but the concept of ' earth ' seems to be different depending on who you are. basically just ' a livable planet with some land and water someplace '.

not that i have a big interest in the science of it all, but it's kind of mindblowing to think i can talk about earth and you can talk about earth and it's two totally different things.

but i also never thought about life outside of a post apocalypse so a lot of my personal concepts are being hit with a baseball bat today.

It does seem to be the case. Like different timelines and universes, but all for the same planet.

The idea of an apocalypse is only in movies or literature where I'm from. I'm sorry things are like that where you're from. It must be difficult.

honestly i don't think of it that way? mostly because it's so normal by now. everything about it.

i guess after enough time and normalizing, you can acclimate yourself to anything.

I have no idea what a zone-goer is.

I come from a place called the Borderlands, which is the outskirts of a galaxy. I was born on a moon called Eden-5, spent a few years on a space station called Helios, a year or two on a planet called Pandora, then finally settled on Promethea. Yes, space travel is common where I'm from. Obviously.

back home we all live in different zones. there's only so many of them, so i know all of them and some of these places i've seen on the network aren't any of them.

like that sounds like the back cover of an old book i found once. i had no idea things like that could actually be real somewhere. galaxies, living on different planets, space ships. do you also have laser guns and robots?

We have both those things, yeah. And lightning guns, and fire guns, and a bunch of other kinds of guns. People really like guns in the Borderlands.

yeah, it's a few days walk between them at least. some are more military-oriented, some are more like pleasure zones. some more house or trade oriented.

and some things don't change no matter what planet you're on, i guess.

yup. there are couriers who make it a profession to send messages and whatnot from zone to zone. sometimes it's a week plus journey depending on where you wanna get to.

being here must be a pretty big downgrade for you, huh? don't know if there are dilapidated cabins on eden-5.

That sounds really inconvenient.

Not really, but Promethea was in a pretty bad condition when I got there. Pandora wasn't that great either.

in some ways, not in others. like if you want to get away for a while, it's pretty easy to get 'lost' in the space in between everything. if you do want to get something done, you've got to clear your calendar for a while.

those sound like utopia names, which is sad. i guess you think of sci-fi, alien stuff and it's all tech and flashing lights. i can't even think of what shitty space towns would look like.

Not gonna lie, that sounds kind of dramatic. Can't just lock yourself up in your room to get away from the rest?

Not too different from this, actually. Just more metal.

not to get too personal, but i haven't had my own room in years. i'm kind of a wanderer right now.

and i think i might prefer a metal shed to all this soft wood every where. doesn't seem all that sturdy or safe.

Honestly, as rundown as these cabins seem, they look way sturdier than the metal shacks on Pandora.

that surprises me again. guess the future isn't always chrome and uh. space metal.

i just need a little shack so i'm not really complaining. i'm not adverse to the elements, even if i don't appreciate the hole in my roof right now. i'll live.

Yeahh, it's got some good things going for it, but for the most part everything is kind of shit. Don't worry about it.

it could be worse. i did a quick scout of the area and i saw a cabin with one whole wall missing. rotted out.

it's just me, so it's not like i need an actual domain all to myself. just an extra board or two, if i can find decent enough wood.

At least there's plenty of trees.

Sorry to break the news, but I'm certainly not a zone-goer.

I'm from one of the Earths, since I here there are plenty to go around. Specifically the Yunmeng end of China.

i'm not holding my breath, it's okay. if my sister was here, i think i'd have heard from her by now. other than that, i don't really even care about other zone folks being here outside of curiosity.

anyway.

i've heard of chinese. more like i know about the ethnicity but the actual country.

well i assume it's somewhere out there. maybe. who knows.
