we've all seen the cliffs to the northeast of our containment area. some of us may have seen a tower at the top, like a lighthouse with no light.
I took a crew up to the top to scout what was up there.
I don't recommend anyone else try it on a whim. the way up was difficult, but my crew is made up of trained professionals.
if you want to see for yourself, come to me and I'll lead the way.
in any case, the tower is abandoned, like pretty much everything else here. there's moss growing over the stone and the wood that the doors are made of is all rotted. from the balcony at the top, you can see the whole containment area. there are rooms, between the spiral stair and the outer wall, with furniture in them. *old* furniture. much older looking than anything else around here. only one room looked actually lived in, and that's the room at the top. the walls were insulated with newspaper, and there were pages and pages of scribbled writing that none of us could read. if you want to have a look, I brought some of it back with me. I also brought back a CB radio that was in the room. maybe we can pick up a signal from the outside, call for a rescue. that might be wishful thinking, but I think it's still worth a try.
[ ooc: Sigrun has unlocked Location L on the map! along with her text post, she attaches some photos of the tower, its rooms, and the view from the top. come chat with her about it. ]

@monstrous
What is a CB radio?
no subject
A CB radio is a short wave person-to-person communication device. More importantly, it might be a way to reach someone outside our containment area.

[ If she isn't talking to her captor now. No trust. ]
I'm used to roughing it in the wilderness. I should be fine with climbing.
no subject
there's always a chance the only people we can reach are our captors. but even then, wouldn't you want to give them a piece of your mind?
I should probably still come with you, just to show you the way. there are steps leading up the last bit of the cliffs, but they're hard to find.

I suppose at the very least, it can't make things worse.
Thank you for taking me. I'll figure out how to pay you back.

speaking of not getting hurt like an idiot, there are a bunch of goats that live on the cliffs. DON'T piss them off.
no subject
Wait, goats are the dangerous animals here? I was expecting something bigger. Dragons, maybe.
no subject
it's mostly the combination of angry goat + falling hundreds of feet that is dangerous.
no subject
I guess I shouldn't complain, aggressive goats being the worst makes for a nice change.
@jiangyanli
But it's dangerous to climb up, you say? I'm not so used to climbing up incomplete buildings, but maybe I can give it a fair effort.

are you Wanyin's sister?
[ She and Jiang Wanyin had talked at length about protecting his family who were here from any unnecessary suffering. What with Wanyin having just died on the very cliffs the tower sits at the top of, Sigrun isn't so sure he would want his sister risking her life to get up there. ]
the building itself is in good enough structural condition. it's the cliffside leading up to it that's the really dangerous part.

Yes. Jiang Yanli, first born of the Yunmeng Jiang sect.
I've never been close to the cliffs myself. I know there can be trepidations to mountains and hills like that. You must have a talented crew with you to brave them and be so successful.

good to meet you. I'm Sigrun Eide. only born of the Eide... sect? except we're not really a sect. I'm a friend of Wanyin's.
[ Also, "only born" is not a thing. Just say you don't have siblings. ]
oh, yeah, my crew is the most best. we can handle anything.

❰ maybe the last part is an assumption based on his more formal name, but the first part...so choice, much sisterly fondness. ❱
Is this a crew of mountain climbers? But you have other special skills? I'm very humbled to be in the presence of such varied talent.

So is the radio like the phones we have? But some how it can talk to people even farther away?
@klaus.hargreeves
but i'm definitely more curious about the pages
think you could meet me somewhere so i could see 'em?
