A surgeon deals with the inner workings of the body, while a psychiatrist deals with the inner workings of the mind. A surgeon might, for instance, be able to repair a heart or a lung. A psychiatrist might be able to help you discover why you act the way you do by looking at different parts of your life leading up to that moment.
